Precautions in handling the electrodes containing MERCURY for titrators

Minamata Convention on MERCURY was adopted at the diplomatic conference of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) on October 10, 2013.
In accordance with Japanese regulations enforced by the treaty implementation, this document describes precautions in handling our products using MERCURY.

1. GTAC###, GTAC## Electrodes containing MERCURY
MERCURY is used in the combined silver electrodes with the following part numbers.
・ GTAC###
・ GTAC##
* # means alphanumeric characters showing specifications.
* Part numbers are labeled on the top of the electrodes.

2. Cautions for handling MERCURY
Take care not to drop or impact the products containing mercury.
When the product is damaged, do not breathe mercury vapor and provide adequate ventilation.

3. Disposal of the products containing MERCURY
Follow local laws and regulations when disposing or recycling of used products.
Inform the industrial waste disposal company that the waste contains MERCURY.

4. Hazardous information
MERCURY is a poisonous substance under the Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Law
(Article 2, Appended Table 1) and is categorized as specified chemical substances (Group-2
substances) under the Industrial Safety and Health Act.

5. RoHS information
According to Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS2), the maximum allowable concentrations of
MERCURY/MERCURY compounds in homogenous materials are 0.1%.
Relevant materials in reference electrodes are MERCURY chloride (I), MERCURY sulphate and
MERCURY oxide (Annex IV 1d of Directive 2011/65/EU), and the exemption of Annex IV expires as
follows. Industrial monitoring and control instruments (category 9): July 21, 2024 .
